President Duterte has signed a new law giving additional privileges to the elderly and sick— but netizens aren’t too pleased.

Under the expanded Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion (TRAIN) law, medicines for cancer, tuberculosis and kidney problems will be exempt from the 12% value-added tax by Jan. 1, 2023.

“So papaabutin ko yung kidney stone & mental illness ko sa 2023???,” one Facebook user said.

Others said some people might not live long enough to enjoy these additional benefits.

“It’s good, but why wait for 2023? People suffering from the said illnesses now would probably never benefit by then. What’s the use of implementing that law anyways?,” another user added.

Others were thankful.
