From Jose Mari Chan to Kris Aquino to Vic Sotto: Find out who’re going to lose a mint from ABS-CBN closure aside from Lopezes

It’s not a good time to be a shareholder of ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corp.

President Rodrigo Duterte’s rants against ABS-CBN has cost shareholders over P25 billion in paper losses as its market capitalization plunged 64 percent to P14.27 billion today (20 February 2020) from P39.73 billion since then President Noy Aquino left Malacanang on 30 June 2016.

Most ABS-CBN shareholders are probably kicking themselves in the head for not selling out when the stock hit a peak of P53.40 in the first month of the Duterte administration. ABS-CBN is now trading at P15.42 today and will probably tank more as the deathwatch on its franchise (which will expire on 30 March 2020) continues.

With this backdrop, the list of ABS-CBN’s Top 100 stockholders has suddenly become an interesting read with its who’s who in politics, showbiz and elite.

Aside from the majority owners Lopez family, among the notable investors are Kris Aquino, Noli De Castro Sonny Belmonte, former Ambassador Howard Dee, Jose Mari Chan, Daniel Padilla, Angel Locsin, Vic del Rosario, Aiza Seguerra, Vic Sotto, John Estrada, Olivia Lamasan, Laurent Dyogi, and Kim Chiu.
