Bilyonaryo Dennis Uy is reportedly the new patron of the title-rich De La Salle University men’s basketball program.
A source said Uy, a DLSU Business Management graduate in 1983, would replace bilyonaryo Danding Cojuangco who stepped down in November 2019.
Uy has big shoes to fill in his new role as the new boss of DLSU. Since Cojuangco returned as Green Archer boss eight years ago, DLSU has won two titles – 2014 and 2017.
Uy, who sold basketball cards along with school supplies to his classmates, is reportedly planning to spend upwards of P10 million a year to beef up the Green Archers chances in the upcoming UAAP season and catch up with its archrival Ateneo Blue Eagles which has won the title in the last three years.
Uy will be backstopped by fellow Lasallians abogado Mans Carpio (husband of Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte), Presidential Assistant for Sports Glenn Escandor, Raffy Villavicencio and former Green Archers team manager Terry Capistrano.
