President Rodrigo Duterte and bilyonaryo Manny V. Pangilinan finally walked into each other’s path but there was no shootout or tongue lashing as the former Davao mayor threatened.
Instead, Duterte shook hands upon arrival with the big boss of Maynilad Water Services Inc. who, along with the Ayalas of Manila Water Co., was the subject of the President’s ire.
The two even sat together during the launching of Pangilinan’s project – NLEX Harbor Link Circumferential Road 3 -R10 section – in Caloocan City. They even had time for small talk before the President made his speech.
The President, however, did not recognize Pangilinan among the VIPS in his speech. Present during the event were Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea, Finance Secretary Sonny Dominguez, Transportation Secretary Art Tugade, Public Works Secretary Mark Villar, Central Bank Governor Ben Diokno and Senator Bong Go. Duterte shook hands with Pangilinan after the event and had a brief talk before boarding his SUV.
Duterte had previously warned Pangilinan about bumping into each other: ‘Pag mag-abot, maski ilang bodyguard mo, p***** i**. ‘Yung mukha mo, p******* i**.” He also threatened to slap Pangilinan and put him in jail.
