When news arrived that local scientists at the University of the Philippines-National Institute of Health (UPNIH) successfully developed test kits for coronavirus (COVID-19), netizens were instantly reminded of Sen. Cynthia Villar’s disdain for science or research.
Netizens took to Twitter to take a swipe at Villar who had earlier castigated the Department of Science and Technology for giving too much importance to research and development.
Villar’s classic line “Baliw na baliw kayo sa research. Aanhin niyo ba ‘yung research?” has resurfaced on the internet.
