Just minutes after President Rodrigo Duterte’s call for business to ease the plight of Filipino workers during the lockdown, bilyonaryo Manuel V. Pangilinan said that workers under Metro Pacific-Salim Group should not worry about losing their salaries while they stayed at home.

Pangilinan posted on Twitter: “Heeding the President’s call tonight for business – large or small – to rise to the challenge posed by Covid 19, the MVP Group is one with the President in coping with this virus. We are helping our employees by maintaining their salaries and benefits during the crisis. We have asked them to Work from Home.”

Duterte has ordered a 30-day lockdown in Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon to contain the spread of the virus.

Aside form its employees, Pangilinan also address customers who might face financial troubles during the crisis. “We continue to serve our customers with the service they need at this time, including the provision of relevant financing, when required,” said Pangilinan.

Pangilinan also reported how his group’s hospital portfolio – such as Makati Medical Center, Cardinal Santos Memorial Medical Center and Asian Hospital – has done its part in addressing the pandemic.

“Our Hospitals Group are doing its best to cope with the rising traffic of PUIs and those confirmed positive with the virus, by sending our frontline health workers in needed areas, and importing face masks and PPEs (Personal Protective Equipment),” said Pangilinan.
