The Department of Justice recognized Lopez’s Philippine citizenship during the House of Representatives’ hearing on the renewal of ABS-CBN’s franchise.
DOJ undersecretary Emmeline Aglipay-Villar said Lopez’s ownership of a US passport doesn’t erase the fact that he is a Filipino citizen.
Using a US passport to travel also didn’t mean he was pledging allegiance to a different country.
