EKR, RSA, Kapitan shake off COVID jitters as fortunes climb in June

Bilyonaryos have gained firmer footing with the lifting of the enhanced community quarantine in June.

Based on Forbes real-time ranking of the world’s richest people, 14 bilyonaryos (one short from last month following the death of “The Boss” Danding Cojuangco on June 17, 2020) posted a combined net worth $34.1 million in June, up 6.6 percent from $32.1 million in May.

Leading the June jump is Ricky Razon who added $600 million or 17 percent to his wealth to $4.2 billion during the month.

Razon said the COVID impact on the economy was not as bad as he expected. His shares in International Container Terminal Services Inc rose 13 percent to P100 and Bloomberry Resorts (Solaire casino-hotel) climbed 15 percent to P7.40.

The second highest gainer is Ramon S. Ang whose assets expanded 13 percent to $1.7 billion in June following a 20 percent increase in his Eagle Cement shares to P9.90 during the month.

Airline and tobacco tycoon Lucio “Kapitan” Tan was third with a 10 percent gain to $2.2 billion in June.
