Nearly a decade later, ABS-CBN’s A-list stars are reportedly making a bee line to Pangilinan’s office, begging to do a show on TV 5 after their network got yanked off the air a day after its franchise expired on May 4.
With ABS-CBN losing its crown, TV5 has emerged as as the country’s second biggest network, albeit distant, after GMA 7. But unlike GMA 7, which has to shed off some stars to accommodate ABS-CBN recruits, TV5
has more air time and more motivation to adopt the Kapamilya celebrities.
But the 74-year old Salim-PLDT and Meralco chairman is reportedly keeping himself scarce these days and is apparently not keen on spending billions to get showbiz’s biggest names in his backyard.
A Babbler told us that Pangilinan has made it known that all queries and negotiations be coursed through Robert Galang, the newy-minted president of Mediaquest Holdings.
“Some of the ABS-CBN stars are going straight to MVP and demanding a high TF (talent fee). But MVP has learned his lessons well,” the Babbler said.
