Game you love is home: MVP lands NBA on TV5, Cignal

Bilyonaryo Manny V. Pangilinan has won the battle to air NBA games in the Philippines.

Starting 31 July 2020, Filipino hoops fans can watch the restart of NBA games in the Orlando bubble on Cignal TV and TV 5. The game between Lebron James’ Lakers and Kawhi Leonard’s Clippers will be the first to be aired on TV 5 at 9 am on Friday.

NBA TV Philippines will resume its broadcast on channels 96 and 262 (HD) on Cignal or ten months after its contract with the Tieng brothers of Solar Sports expired on September 30.

MVP and the Lopezes of ABS-CBN engaged in a tug-of-war for the NBA rights but no deal was reached as the 2019-2020 season started in November.

Free TV games were aired on CNN Philippines until the end of 2019. Select games were also live streamed for free on Facebook Watch and Twitter.

22 of 30 teams NBA teams are set to play eight regular season games each at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida before the playoffs which could stretch to October 2020.
