Barber shops, salons, dine-in restaurants are closing anew due to strict lockdown rules

Some businesses which have started to reopen in Mega Manila will be forced to shut down for two weeks beginning Tuesday as the country reverts to modified enhanced community quarantine to arrest the sharp spike in COVID-19 cases.

The shift back to MECQ, which will last through Aug. 18, was in response to medical groups’ call for a 14-day time out to reboot the country’s COVID-19 strategies.

With the strict lockdown, barbershops, salons, gyms and dine-in restaurants located in Metro Manila and the Calabarzon (Cavite-Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon would need to halt operations for a while and wait for new directives from the government

Metro Manila and Calabarzon collectively account for 67% of the local economy.
