Dead end? Wirecard exec Bauer passes away in Philippines, claims Filipina wife

Former Wirecard Asia-Pacific executive Christopher Bauer, who was under investigation by local authorities over his ties to the German financial services firm, passed away on July 27. He was 45.

Bauer’s death was shared by his wife, Belinda Flordeliza, on her Facebook page. No cause of death was indicated.

A German newspaper also reported about Bauer’s death.

Reports claimed that Bauer was close to dismissed Wirecard chief operating officer Jan Marsalek, who’s tagged in the missing $1.2 billion funds from the company.

The Anti-Money Laundering Council and the National Bureau of Investigation were hot on Bauer’s heels prior to his death.

Bauer and his wife owned Pay Easy, an electronic payments solutions company, as well as the P2P bus operator, Froehlich Tours.
