MVP beefs ups TV5’s morning, lunch time programming by snagging Ted Failon from ABS-CBN, eyes Luis Manzano for lunchtime show

Bilyonaryo Manny V. Pangilinan is seeking to rule the morning and lunch time blocs on television by snagging two of ABS-CBN’s biggest talents.

A Babbler revealed that Failon will host a “teleradyo” news and current affairs show which would be simulcast on TV 5 and Radyo 92.3 News FM at 7 a.m. from Monday to Friday.

Failon will start his appearance of the Kapatid channel in September.

The Babbler said Failon was expected to take his radio sidekick, DJ Chacha.

Aside from Failon, the Babbler said TV5 was also eyeing Luis Manzano and several other stars from ABS-CBN for a daily noontime show on TV 5 (Mnday to Friday, 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.).

The son of Edu Manzano and Vilma Santos, used to be the host of “ASAP”, “It’s Showtime”, “Minute To Win It”, and “The Voice.” His girlfriend, actress Jessy Mendiola, already has a fitness show on TV 5.

According to the camp of Luis, however, the TV host is “still with ABS-CBN as of press time with no concrete offer from TV5.”

Failon hosts a popular talk show, “Failon Ngayon”, on DZMM 630.

ABS-CBN announced that Failon’s final broadcast for the station would be on Monday, August 31.

Another ABS-CBN news talent, Korina Sanchez, is reportedly jumping to TV5. The wife of former senator Mar Roxas is expected to host a magazine show every Saturday on Pangilinan’s station.

Pangilinan has likewise poached ANC’s news anchor Kathy Yang as head of Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co.’s corporate communications group.

Our Babbler said while Pangilinan was excited about a windfall of talents from the closure of ABS-CBN’s TV and radio stations, he has been picky in getting the best talent available and at the right price.
