According to industry rating firm Safe Travel Barometer (STB), PAL is among the top 10 world-wide airlines in terms of travel health and safety protocols.
An industry-first rating initiative, the Safe Travel Score is based on an independent audit of more than 150 airlines and 20 traveler health and safety measurement.
PAL tied with China Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, AirAsia Malaysia and UAE’s Emirates with a safe travel score of 4.2 out of 5.
“We are grateful for the unexpected recognition, and honored to be recognized for doing the right thing. PAL shall continue to maintain the highest standards of safety and the protection of the health of our colleagues and all the passengers in our care,” said Gilbert Santa Maria, PAL president and COO.
Virendra Jain, co-founder and chief executive of STB, said the fundamental premise of the Safe Travel Score is to “benchmark travel brands’ initiatives to reduce traveller anxiety.”
The rating system provided a score for each stage of the travel journey – pre-flight, the actual flight and post flight.
Topping the list was Germany’s Lufthansa (4.5) followed by India’s Vistara, US-based Delta Airlines and Allegiant Air, (4.4 each).
Alaska Airlines also made it to the list with a score of 4.1 points.
