A Babbler revealed that Benitez and Pangilinan have signed a multi-million block time deal (18 hours a week) for several TV shows to be headlined by top ABS-CBN talents.
Benitez has been able to recruit top ABS-CBN personalities such as Luis Manzano and Billy Joe Crawford, with the help of Star Magic boss Johnny “Mr. M” Manahan, the prolific talent manager behind ABS-CBN’s famous faces such as Piolo Pascual, Angelica Panganiba, Kim Chiu,Gerald Anderson, and John Lloyd Cruz; and talismanic director of ABS-CBN’s TV series and variety shows.
The Babbler said the block time deal would be a prelude to Benitez’s goal of ironing a joint venture deal with Pangilinan to produce content for TV5 and Cignal TV.
Benitez, who reported a net worth of over P1 billion during his nine-year stint in Batasan, has also tapped his son, Javi, in his expansion from a gaming mogul (offshore gaming, casino, and bingo) to entertainment tycoon.
Javi will head his entertainment arm, Brightlight Productions.
Benitez had previously dabbled in film production (with his boyhood buddies Gabby Concepcion and Albert Martinez) and produced and hosted a docu-magazine show “Game Changer” on ANC.
