Task force starts tourism revival with hotel staycations in Metro Manila

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque confirmed Monday that the Inter-Agency Task Force has given hotels in Metro Manila and other areas under general and modified general community quarantine the greenlight to reopen to leisure travellers after a six-month hiatus.

“Talaga pong unti-unti nating binubuksan ang ating ekonomiya… Kumbaga that marks the beginning of the reopening of the tourism industry here in Metro Manila,” Roque said.

“Let’s give it a chance. Pwede naman pong pag-ingatan ang buhay para po makapaghanap-buhay ang lahat,” he added, saying that this would also boost government’s tax and other revenue collections.

The Department of Tourism will soon release a memorandum circular, outlining the specifics of the staycation policy, including maximum number of guests in a room and use of ancillary services, such as dining areas and recreational facilities.
