Benguet Corp. shakeup continues: 2 directors resign 3 months after Daniel Romualdez quits

The Benguet Corp. boardroom is experiencing more upheaval since New York-based architect Daniel Andrew G. Romualdez left the company last June.

Benguet Corp. announced that two of its directors – Romeo L. Go and Edgar Dennis A. Padernal – have resigned as board directors effective September 23, 2020. T

“Their resignation was not due to disagreement with the company on any matter relating to the company’s operations, policies or practices,” said the gold miner.

The 68-year old Go, a retired Commissioner of National Labor Relations Commission (NLRC)-Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), was only appointed director 10 months ago. The 62-year old Padernal has been a director of the company since August 2018. Both Go and Padernal are lawyers. Romualdez quit the company after he stepped down as it chair in November 2019. Economic Bernardo M. Villegas took over as chair a month later.

Benguet Corp. is controlled by the Romualdez family through Palma Avenue Holdings (33 percent) and RYM Business Management (19 percent).
