Union Bank SVP Baltao quits 3 years after revamping fintech unit EON

The head of Union Bank of the Philippines’s fintech unit is quitting his post.

Union Bank senior vice president Paolo Eugenio Baltao has resigned from the Aboitiz-controlled bank effective 15 October 2020.

Baltao is leaving to “pursue other career opportunities”.

Baltao is head of Union Bank’s EON banking which was relaunched in 2017 as a new digital banking platform (deposit, consumer finance and payment options) where users log in through a selfie.

Baltao used to be the President of G-Xchange, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Globe Telecom which operates its m-commerce product, GCash.
