SMC, Metro Pacific Tollways extend RFID issuance to November

While they are ready for cashless transactions, San Miguel Corp. and Metro Pacific Tollways Corp. extended the issuance of RFID stickers to November to accommodate more motorists.

Motorists entering SMC-operated tollways namely Skyway, South Luzon Expressway, NAIAX, STAR Tollways and TPLEX have until Nov. 30 to secure an AutoSweep RFID tag.

While those entering NLEX, Subic-Clark Tarlac Expressway, Manila-Cavite Expressway , C5 Link and Cavite-Laguna Expressway can have their free stickers installed only until Nov.2.

SMC emphasized that after November 30, vehicles without RFID stickers will not be allowed to enter its tollways.

Motorists who do not conform to the government mandate will be apprehended and issued a citation ticket, SMC said.

The Department of Transportation has required all tollroad operators to fully implement contactless transactions by November 2 to help curb the spread of Covid-19 and ease traffic.
