COVID-19 may have been the grinch that stole Christmas, but the Bayanihan to Recover as One Act is rewarding displaced tourism workers with a P5,000 aid.
Workers from tourism enterprises duly accredited by the Department of Tourism or by local government units — such as tourist recreation centers, tourist shops, and zoos — may apply for the assistance.
“This one-time P5,000 financial assistance may appear insignificant compared to the lost jobs and curtailed pecuniary benefits arising from the downsizing or closure of establishments. But for many, it can work to uplift the spirits and spur hope this Christmas, especially for those at the grassroots,” Puyat said.
Applicants must present his/her employment contract in the industry, the company’s accreditation certificate, and proof of unemployment.
