Salim-MVP are you listening? Rex says group behind smear job against Gatchalians must be losing billions from NLEX suspension

“We will not allow any multi-billion corporate entity to trample on our rights as motorists.”

This was the defiant message of Valenzuela City Mayor Rex Gatchalian just two days after bilyonaryo Manny V. Pangilinan, chairman of NLEX, denied on Twitter that his group was behind the “spiteful” rumors being spread on social media against his family.

In a video on YouTube, Gatchalian talked about the slew of “fake news” – which he did not elaborate – that cropped up in social media after he suspended the operations of NLEX’s tollways in his city for nine days due to the chronically defective RFID system which has caused “hellish” traffic in Valenzuela.

Gatchalian said it was unfortunate that some people chose to spread nasty rumors instead of finding solutions for the massive traffic NLEX has caused.

Gatchalian did not directly accuse NLEX of spreading the rumors.

“Malamang nabawan ang bilyon bilyon nilang kita kasi nilabanan ng lungsod ng Valenzuela ang mga pagkukulang nila sa mga motorista,” said Gatchalan.

Gatchalian said Valenzuela would continue to speak up against this “highway robbery” inflicted on its citizen despite the demolition campaign. “we will not be intimidated, we will not surrender until you have given us a permanent solution. If you think we will be silences by your fake news, you are wrong,” said Gatchalian.

Gatchalian urged people behind the demolition campaign to stop diverting away from the issue and use their time and effort to find an answer to the problem.
