The PLDT-Smart group earned more fans when it shelled out millions of dollars to get Korean stars Son Ye Jin and Hyun Bin as endorsers.
The #BinJin couple’s advertising luster, however, has started to fade as Smart’s service continues to be dismal.
Smart earned flak on Monday (January 11) for greeting Son Ye-Jin on her 39th birthday. The reason? Netizens believe the Manny Pangilinan-owned telco should’ve spent more on improving its services first rather than getting high profile international endorsers.
“Saengil chukahamnida, Queen Son Ye-Jin! Simply sending love and best wishes from your Smart family,” read the Facebook post which was well-appreciated by her local fans.
Facebok user Hazel Santos – Bicaldo remarked: “Instead of paying celebrities for your endorsement, why don’t you spend the money in enhancing your services. Customers are having trouble with the connection but they are paying the monthly bills on time because if not, line will be disconnected.”
“This time of Pandemic, we need better services for work and connection with our family. It is less expensive to fix the connection than paying imported endorsers,” Bicaldo added, drawing over 500 reactions online.
