Injap Sia to compete head on with Lucio Co’s S&R, Luis Yu’s Landers

Competition in the wholesale warehouse business is entering a new phase with the entry of bilyonaryo Edgar Injap Sia II.

Sia hopes to shake up the industry, currently dominated by tycoon Lucio Co’s S&R and businessman Jose Luis Yulo’s Landers, with the MM Warehouse Club, which is now accepting business or individual membership applications.

In a statement, Sia’s MerryMart Consumer Corp. said the MM wholesale operations will kick off in April in time for the full completion of a new modern 11,000-square meter MM logistics distribution center in CentralHub-Tarlac.

For now, membership is free of charge.

MM’s operating distribution center is currently located in Laguna.

“The MM team is excited to fulfill the wholesale needs of the market from individual members who, from time to time, suddenly need several cases of grocery items for personal consumption or even for special events, and to the businesses who would want to further increase their efficiency and avail of the savings of purchasing wholesale by the case,” said Sia, chairman of MerryMart.

MerryMart CFO Hannah Yulo-Luccini, for her part, expects the new venture to “significantly increase the volume and scale of the MM Group and further increase its efficiencies and improve margins.”

“This will immediately expand the current market of MerryMart and address the needs of a currently underserved wholesale market with limited options in the past,” she added.
