Telco giant PLDT Inc. has signed a local network interconnection deal with DITO Telecommunity Corp.
Under the agreement, PLDT will build an interconnection facility that will deliver the requirements of DITO for fixed line and wireless services.
The planned facility is targeted to be completed by end-March in time for the start of commercial operations of DITO, the joint venture between bilyonaryo Dennis Uy and China Telecoms.
“DITO knew from day 1 that in order for us to deliver our commitment to the Filipino, we needed to work hand-in-hand with the pioneers of the telco industry like PLDT,” said Uy during the virtual signing of the deal.
PLDT spent over P286 billion in the past five years to expand its reach to benefit more consumers. It operates the widest fiber optic network among local internet service providers, reaching 429,000 kilometers.
