SSS Commissioner Bai Norhata Alonto was elected to the Philex board on February 24.

She will take the seat of fellow SSS Commissioner Diana Pardo-Aguilar who resigned from the Philex board last week.
Alonto was appointed to the SSS in December 2019 to represent the workers’ group.
She served as presidential assistant for Muslim Mindanao and Commissioner of the Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor, She is is currently the Regional Governor of the National Council of Women in the Philippines.
SSS has a 20 percent stake in Philex which is controlled by the Metro Pacific group.
