Chua is the new blood among four independent directors nominated to the election of the Phinma board during its annual stockholders’ meeting on 14 April 2021.
Chua will replace investment banker Guillermo Luchangco who has sat on Phinma’s board since 2005. The other independent directors up for re-election are former Philippine Economic Zone Authority Director General Lilia De Lima, Sun Life Philippines country head Rizalina G. Mantaring, and former Nestle Philippines chairman Juan B. Santos.
Chua, who led Shell’s local operations from 2003 to 2016 is currently the chairman of the Makati Business Club (MBC).
Chua is graduate of De La Salle University just like Phinma chairman Ramon Del Rosario (vice chairman, president and CEO) and his brother Victor (EVP and CFO); Oscar Hilado (chairman); former Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Governor Jose Cuisia (non-executive director); and Luchangco.
Phinma has interests in education, steel products, housing, business process outsourcing and energy.
