In a statement, the South Korean company said it will not be making any more units from its smartphone line, rendering remaining stocks in the market as rare finds.
“LG has recently made the difficult decision to close its mobile business to focus on other businesses that will provide new experiences and value for the consumers,” the company said, adding that it will continue to manufacture other appliances and electronics.
LG said the available supply of products will vary from country to country and will continue to be supported by after-sales service despite the announcement. Security and app updates will be provided for phones, which run on Android.
“We will fully honor our product limited warranties, and will also continue to provide software and security updates as well as replacement parts in accordance with applicable regulations and contractual obligations,” it said.
