Luxury island resort in Coron selling for $40M

The tourism slump brought about by the global coronavirus pandemic has forced the owner of an upscale resort on a remote private island between Palawan and Mindoro to sell out.

Based on the Facebook page of Underwood Properties, the 20.5-hectare Huma Island Resorts in Busuanga is being sold for a whopping $40 million.

Huma has 82 rooms (including 64 villas iron stilts with an outdoor jacuzzi each), seven restaurants, two desalination plants, and eight generators.

Going to the property requires a 90-minute flight from Manila, 90-minute drive from Sagrada Port, and thirty-minute boat ride to its shores.

The resort is owned by a Kuwaiti construction mogul Dr. Hamad Ibrahim E A O Al Tuwaijri who discovered the place in 2017 through a trusted Filipino engineer (who died before the resort opened in April 2014).
