Businessman Dennis Anthony Uy is aggressively expanding Converge’s coverage as demand for internet services peak amid the lockdown.
In a tweet, Uy announced that fiber optic cables for its wifi and line internet service have reached Cagayan de Oro City in Mindanao.
We’ve finally set foot in Mindanao! Our FIBER OPTIC CABLES have landed in CDO this morning. This completed the connection of Visayas and Mindanao to our national fiber backbone. pic.twitter.com/YScA1RAmq1

Converge, which started in Pampanga, is out to take on PLDT and Globe just months after Uy took the company public, doing good on his investor pitch in 2020.
“Converge is looking forward to firing up our fiber broadband services in VisMin so that we can soon provide the unserved and underserved areas in central and southern Philippines with world-class internet connectivity,” Uy said.
Meanwhile, Uy’s namesake, Dennis Uy, began rolling out Dito Telecommunity’s services in Mindanao and Visayas in March.
