The AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines ordered by the country’s top businessmen will finally arrive in June, Presidential Adviser for Entrepreneurship Joey Concepcion said.
At the vaccine summit sponsored by Chinoy TV last week, Concepcion assured there will be no more delays in the shipment of the vaccines.
A group of 34 companies led by some of the Philippines’ richest bilyonaryos placed the order for 2.5 million doses of AstraZeneca’s vaccine last year for their employees.
With more companies and even local government units joining the tripartite purchase deal, Concepcion said about 70 million doses will be delivered this year. Other brands expected to come in are Novovax and Covaxin, both coming from India.
“The strategy of the private sector is to really focus on vaccines because balancing lives and livelihoods are the most challenging thing to do at this point in time,” Concepcion said.
